The Tatoosh Range

An unexpected message led to a quick backcountry adventure Tuesday evening.

Jeff Mart introduced himself to me with a text, and in just a few hours we were off for Mount Rainier National Park in his cramped mobile-home Honda Fit. He was somewhere in the middle of a two month-ish cross country journey, and in need of an adventure buddy. We headed for the Tatoosh backcountry.

Jeff mart has been on the road for the past 5 weeks exploring the country, and expects at least another month out before heading home to NJ.

Mount Rainier National Park was our destination for adventure.

We found our campsite at Snow Lake around 11PM. With no sun and no stars due to a cloudy sky, we decided to make our own light.

Dehydrated Southwest style beef nachos fill the void in our stomachs.

Jumping into glacial lakes. This one was as smooth as glass, and as cold as ice.

Jeff has been working on a project of himself juggling in different places. Check Mount Rainier National Park off of the list.

The official trail up to Pinnacle Peak ends at the pass between the North and South faces of the Tatoosh range. Reaching the summit required both hands and feet, as well as an eye for loose rocks.
